Internalized is a poetic short documentary made during COVID lockdown. The film showcases statements from anonymous LGBTQ2+individuals as they reflect on their experiences of growing up gay and their own internalized homophobia. Based on personal experiences that I sought out to explore, this film highlights all the intimacies of my own upbringing. Extensive research went into this project, the film is comprised of the most important lines that came out of hours of conversations with many different LGBTQ2+ individuals. Furthermore, this project really opened my eyes to experiences outside of my own - helping me gain sympathies for trials I never had to encompass in my lifetime that were important to share.
